I am the child of Charles Menger McDonnell Sr. and Magdalen Reger McDonnell, of Belmont county, OH.Both parents lived in Wheeling for many years. I grew up in Barton, OH.
I am the grandchild of Guy V. McDonnell and Caroline Kirkpatrick McDonnell, (of Wheeling, WV) and Joseph P. Reger Sr. and Mary Martha Arthur Reger (also of Wheeling).
My maternal great-grandparents were William V. Arthur, of Wheeling, and his first wife, Alice Murphy Arthur.
My maternal great-great grandparents were John H. Arthur, of Wheeling (born in Lanlivery, Cornwall, England) and his wife, Bridget Farley, of Ireland.
My great-grandparents were Alexander V.McDonnell and Mary Catherine Menger McDonnell (he was born in Fairmont, WV and she in Zanesville,OH. Mary Catherine was the child of Anton ('Anthony') Menger of Detwiller, Alsace, France, and his wife, Catharine E. Oshe Menger Dusch , of Zanesville, and later, Wheeling, WV). Catharine was the child of Jacob Oshe and his wife, Katharine Roll. Katharine was the child of Ignatius Roll, of Detwiller, and his first wife, Elisabeth Jean Hanss. Ignatius lived in Zanesville,OH, for many years.
My maternal great-grandparents were Heinrich Reger Sr. and Elizabeth Gaus Reger, both coming to Wheeling from the Black forest area of Germany.
My great-great grandparents were Patrick McDonnell and Bridget McNallyMcDonnell, who came to live eventually in Burton, WV, from county Mayo, Ireland.
My paternal great-great grandparents were Robert W. Kirkpatrick and Margaret Jane May Kirkpatrick. My paternal great grandparents were Thomas M. Kirkpatrick and his 2nd wife, Nancy Jane Starks Kirkpatrick.
