Bio

I have been working on my family history since the 1970's, and I find it a very exciting and rewarding. I am working on the Powell, Hendrickson, Asher, and related families in eastern Kentucky (Knox, Bell, etc. counties); James and Catherine Laswell Roberts and related families of Rockcastle and Boyle Counties Kentucky; Ashabranner and related lines in NC and Indiana. Always willing to share family information.

There seems to be one person in most families that becomes the family historian. I am the one in my family that had the longing to know about my ancestors. I remember as a young girl, after seeing obituaries of family that had died young, and wondering about their lives. When I grew up and learned how to do the research, it set in motion a life long passion.

I hope to contribute to Find A Grave in whatever way I can, either by creating memorials that don't currently exist for family or adding to those that do. Believe it is important to remember and honor those that have gone before. I am always willing to share information.

I am happy to transfer to any family members any memorial I have created unless it is my family. Just ask using the edit tab.

The majority of memorials I have created were copied from "Knox County, KY Cemeteries", a five volume set published by the Knox County Genealogical Society in the 1980's. The genealogical society no longer exists and their records and books were donated to the Knox County Historical Society in Barbourville, KY, and I no longer have these books.
Other than the information contained in the books, I don't have any other information to share except for my own family. I created these memorials because a lot of stones have become unreadable and thought it would be helpful to others on Find A Grave to be able to locate their ancestors. I am happy to correct information if you use the edit tab.
