I became interested in my genealogy when I helped work on the "The Gettel Family" tree book that traces our heritage to John and Catherine Gettel. They were born in 1820 and 1837 respectively and immigrated to the U.S. from Germany. As of the last printing of the book in 2005, we have traced 8 generations. I like to keep information current for our future generations.
My grandfather, Albert Gettel came from a family of 13 children and he also had 13 children. None of his children had 13 children.
My grandfather married Amanda Binder.
I am trying to keep the Gettel/Binder families updated.
My father is from the Reich/Skirlo family. My father and mother have heavy roots in the west side of the "thumb" of Michigan.
My husband traces his heritage to the Guitar family on the eastern side of the Thumb.
I have participated in 23 and Me. I have connected with some relatives. I was gifted a family tree from a "Gross" family member which is from the Skirlo side.
My Mom had a box with Many obituary notices that I was able to update many of the memorials with more complete information.
I love finding one more piece to this big puzzle each time I connect with someone.
