Family research has been my passion for about 30 years. It is time to give back!
Death records were not recorded until 1875 in Baltimore City and were sporadic at best. Early residents often could not afford an obituary and sometimes the monument is the only record of a person's birth or death. Older cemeteries often have monuments where time has worn away the inscriptions.
My mission is to record and transcribe the inscriptions on monuments to be best of my ability and preserve as much data before it is gone forever. My research includes obituary and census look ups to verify the accuracy of the entry as well as photos.
Love the contributions to the sites I have visited, but please make sure of the following:
1) Search the cemetery to make sure the entry has not already been recorded. Many, many duplicates are out there and if you don't search you don't know.
2) Make sure your entry is accurate.
3) Finally, if you add a photo, make sure it is as good or better than the one featured as the grave; you may be covering up valuable data for the researchers.
There are millions of graves and everyone's help is of value. Happy hunting!
