Bio

I've been interested in genealogy most of my life. Dad's family primarily in North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia back to the Colonial period. Several branches settled in Monroe County, Georgia soon after its creation in 1821. I also descend from some of Florida's earliest families that arrived in 1769 as part of Turnbull's New Smyrna colony and ended up in St. Augustine in 1777. Mom's family is from Western Pennsylvania, primarily Venango County.

I'm also a lifelong student of the War for Southern Independence (1861-1865), more commonly referred to as the American Civil War, based on the service of my great-great grandfather - Thomas R. White, and five 3x great uncles in the "Monroe Crowders," Company D, 31st Georgia Infantry - CSA. Their military service inspired me to research and author "A History of the 31st Georgia Volunteer Infantry," published by Butternut And Blue (Baltimore) in 1997.
