I grew up on a fourth-generation farm in Union County, South Dakota. After attending a one-room country school, local high school and nearby college, I left the Great Plains for employment in Maryland.

My ancestors came in the mid to late 19th century as homesteaders and pioneers to Iowa and Dakota Territory. My interest in genealogy began early when I read an account of my great-great-grandparents' lives in Sweden and the Dakota Territory. My parents and relatives fortunately preserved a great deal of information on our ancestors that, in combination with wealth of information discovered through the Internet, I wish to pass along to succeeding generations.
