I have lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for 37 years. Imagine my surprise when I traced my ancestry to John Alford who arrived in the "new world" in 1665 to settle on the banks of the Choptank River in Dorchester County, Maryland! I have visited the places that he and his family lived in an area that has not been greatly developed and is relatively left in its natural state. It is very beautiful on the Choptank River and I am extremely gratified and happy that I now have a connection with John Alford, an ancestor of mine through my mother's grandmother. I look forward to finding out more about him and his family as well as helping anyone on this site find the graves of their ancestors.
