Robert W. Allison is the son of William Bailey Allison (1913-2002) & Edith Muriel (Taylor) Allison (1922-2002), grandson of William Logan Allison (1866-1928) & Leonora Levina Bailey (Abbott) Allison (b. 1874) and great grandson of William Allison (1841-1906) & Isabella Stevenson (1843-1881). He grew up in Manchester and Bolton, Connecticut where his family lived while William Bailey Allison was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Robert graduated from Bolton Elementary School (1957), Manchester High School (1961) and Brown University (B.A. 1965) and the University of Chicago (Ph.D. 1975). A professor of Religion and Classical Medieval studies at Bates College (now emeritus). After living for 36 years in Greene, Maine, he and his wife, Susan Carol (Gregory) Allison are retired in Spartanburg, SC. Their sons, William A. Allison and Richard G. Allison reside with their families in San Francisco, CA and Rock Hill, SC, respectively.
