Bio

As a young girl I was blessed to have all four Grandparents around each and every day as well as several Great Grandma's and even a Great Grandpa until my early teen years. There was never a dull moment with any or all of them around. We had such splendid times together that I am able to recall thousands of warm, funny, loving, sad, happy wonderful memories of them and all the time I had with them. Many of my fondest most cherished times I have with them are of the trips to visit our loved ones at the cemeteries. A few were located near to our homes and we spent numerous days taking our time visiting first one and then another always taking the time at each gravesite to ponder over the memories of the loved one and share a tale or two with whomever might be in our group on that day then we would move on to the next. At times we might come across a lonely grave that we may have noticed hadn't had new flowers or picked up around in awhile so we would stop and pay our respects maybe leave a single flower and other times we may run across a gravesite that the flowers had fallen over at and we would always take the time to pick them up dust them off and replace them to their designated spot and of course we'd say our howdy do's and pay our respects to this stranger then we would continue in our way. Other times we would get to load up in someones vehicle and ride to the mountains or to Tennessee to visit our late loved ones who has been laid to rest at various family and church cemeteries nearer to the old homeplaces of our families. We always had a wonderful time just being together and sharing our memories. Now as a Grandmothee myself I still enjoy visiting cemeteries and especially enjoy taking my Grands along going from one long gone loved one to another sharing the tales of the ones whom I had never met which had been shared with me so many years ago and of course sharing my own memories of so many who have gone since I was a child and enjoying my Grands memories of the ones they had been blessed to know. I also enjoy visiting any cemetery even if I don't know anyone laid to rest there. I find them peaceful and comforting. And from time to time have been pleasantly surprised to come across a headstone, footmarker or monument of a distant relative who I had never met but oft times heard their name mentioned in stories told by others in our family. As I work now I don't get around to the cemetery as I once did but I go as often as possible. I do try to make at least a short visit to the ones nearby around once a month. I an only about 5 to 15 minutes away from Whitfield Memorial Gardens and West Hill Cemeteries in Dalton, Whitfield, Georgia. So always glad to be on the lookout for someones loved one while at them. And I'll look at others nearby when I get a chance too. I visit several in Gilmer and Fannin County in Georgia a couple times a year (more if I am able).
