Bio

I am the Grand Daughter of Fredrick John Buchholz & Florence Susan Alcott on my Father Fredrick Everett Buchholz side of the family & the Grand Daughter of John Orsamus Baker & Mary Gertrude Detrick on my Mother Carol Marie Baker side of the family.

My Aunt Nellie Reynolds, who is 100 1/2 yrs old & still living confirmed the names of my Grandfather Fred John Buchholz Siblings: there were 3 brothers Hermann Friedrich August Buchholz b1879 d1879 in Berlin, Germany; Emil Carl Friedrich Buchholz b1880 in Berlin, Germany, death unk poss in Minn or Wis; Otto Buchholz b1883 in Berlin, Germany Death unk poss in Minn or Wis; & his 3 Sisters Edith Ada Buchholz (Pickar) b1884 in Nebraska, Usa d1945 Wadena County, Minn; Emma Buchholz b1887 death unk poss Minn; & Minnie Buchholz (Bagley) b1893 d1977 in Minn. Who along with my grandfather Fredrick John Buchholz were the Children of German Immigrants Friedrich Johann Ferdinand Buchholz b1853 in Brandenburg, Germany d1924 in Wadena County, Minn & Ottilie Auguste Dorothee Lerm (Buchholz) b1853 in Berlin, Germany d1926 in Wadena County, Minn.

My Great Grand Parents Fred & Dorothy Immigrated to the US in 1883 when both Emil & Otto were babies. The Spouses of Emil & Otto Buchholz are unknown at this time. But Edith Married Anthony Pickar JR b1876 d1965 & they had 9 Children together Henry Nick Pickar, David Joseph Pickar, Anna Ida Picker, Clara Mary Picker (who had a son out of wedlock Name unknown, but her brother Henry & his wife Evelyn E Higgs (Picker) raised him), Mary Catherine Pickar (Bagley, Campbell, Crownover) (also had a daughter Florence Irene Bagley (Father's given name is unknown) 1930 & 1940 Census records show Florence living with her grandparents Tony & Ada Pickar & birth records only show her father's Surname as Bagley) Mary also appears to have been Married 2 other times according to California death records which show the Surnames of Campbell & Crownover, next is Tillie Pickar, Fred Picker who died in California, Margaret Christine Pickar, & Isabelle Pickar.

My Aunt Nellie did not mention Anthony Pickar had ever been previously married to anyone other than my Great Aunt Edith Ada Buchholz, nor are there any records on Ancestry.com indicating he was ever married to anyone else or had any other children besides the ones I've listed & found birth, death, & census records for on Ancestry. Where Bernard Pickar came from is unclear as I've not found any records of him being one of my Great Uncles, nor did my Aunt Nellie name him as being one of the 9 Pickar children born to Tony & Ada. However it is possible he might have been one of Anthony Pickar's siblings or some other relative as his father's name was also Anthony Pickar.

Emma Buchholz Never married & the youngest Minnie Buchholz (Bagley) Married George Bagley & they had 3 Children; Freda Helen Bagley, Evelyn Margaret Bagley, & Harold LeRoy Bagley all of whom seem to have never married as no marriage records or other types of records indicating marriages or birth records for any children, can be found for any of them. There is however, a 1940 Census for Freda Bagley indicating she had been sent to a State run Mental institution for the Mentally Disabled.

I've only been researching my family history since the middle of 2015. I've made some amazing discoveries on both sides of my family tree & am learning new things everyday. I first became interested in learning more about where our family came from after seeing a couple of shows on the TLC network about people discovering where their family came from & learning about relatives they never knew they had. It was after seeing a couple episodes that I joined Ancestry.com with a free trial & began researching our Family's Roots. Initially I got off on the wrong track with the Buchholz side as I didn't know much about my grandfather as he died before I was born & as did my Great Grandparents & my father never talked much about his family except for a few of his sisters (my Aunts whom I'd meet a few times growing up. Since I began my research I've uncovered a few living second cousins, a living 4th cousin & a whole lot of other relatives (most of them past) who I never knew I had.

I recently decided to join FAG to help those who have posted Memorial's by adding to the information they have with some of the information I have to help the records be more accurate. As sometimes the Headstones only give Married names & Maiden names aren't included or are unknown. Along with helping link (accurate) Family members to the right Parents, Spouses, Siblings, & Children, etc. I think when we collaborate together if helps to improve the Accuracy of the the records, as sometimes FAG only lists the years & not the full dates, which are shown other places like Social Security Death index's, or State/County Death index's, Along with Birth Records. I don't know as I will be Adding any FAG Memorial's at this time, but I do want to help improve the ones that are already hear with accurate information I've received from other family members & through my research on Ancestry.
