I was born in Houten, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with my parents and six brothers and sisters. I have lived in Ottawa, Canada since 1967 and am married to Joan Mahoney who grew up in Low, Quebec. Her mother was Cleo Daly and her father was Emmett Mahoney.

I started my genealogy research in 2007, after I retired from the Federal Government. The main families I am researching are the Sontrop and Oostveen on my parents' line and Mahoney and Daly on my spouse's line.

Most of the Mahoney-Daly ancestors are from the Low, Farrellton and Fieldville area of Quebec.
