I began examining my mom and dads ancestry in the mid 1990's. My mothers line is Osborne and Combs. My father's family the Gryder's go back to the Princess Augusta ship that came into Philadelphia in Sep 1736. Father, Hans Jacob, and sons, Fredrick and Martain Greiter.The family made its way into MD and then Loudoun Co VA (Cameron Parish) in the 1750's. By 1770 Fredrick's son, Cornelius 'Conrad' Grider/Gryder was in the Alexander Co, NC area. My grandfather's family moved to the Charlotte Co., VA near Keysville around 1910. I grew up in Petersburg VA.
