Bio

My name is Elizabeth (Betsy) Nelson Woodard, I hope to add pictures and stories to the grave marker photos on this site, so that family and friends will be remembered as they would have wished.
I have many family photos, as genealogy has been important to some family members for generations. In my mother's family our English Smith and German Disinger lines are traced.
I am a descendant of Henry Smith, and his son John Smith who first came to America on the Diligent in 1638 with their family and servants in the Great Migration. They brought over with them a family Bible, a Breeches Bible, that was passed down to another line and I'm told is in the Boston area with a Smith cousin. I am a DAR member, and in 2018 located grave of my patriot Christopher Smith. Christopher and his sons Benjamin and John served in the Revolution, other family members in every war since then, on the northern side.
My husband John is from Georgia and also has many family members serving in the military, and on the Confederate side in the Civil War. We both have English and Scotch ancestry, Lisenby and McKinnon. My great grandfather George Nelson came from Denmark- Niels Nielsen, spelling changed coming in NY harbor.
