Bio

I started my family history research over 30 years ago although only relatively recently joined 'Find a grave'. It has been a interesting journey with many surprises along the way finding distant cousins and strange occupations, usually down to mistakes in transcription.
I am willing to help others and take photos if I can. I do make mistakes but I'm willing to change things, or even delete, if my research has been proved incorrect. Should I be managing a grave that you have a greater claim to please just ask and I will transfer.
It's important to remember that sites like this use algorithms to improve research accuracy so even a small error involving date of birth, death or place can make a big difference to search results. Accumulated data over several years can help to confirm start and finish points. Remember also that not all documents are accurate for instance just because someone speaks with a Scots accent, doesn't necessarily mean he was born in Scotland, so entering place of birth on a death certificate as Scotland doesn't necessarily follow.
"Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth".
Arthur Conan Doyle
