I live in Christchurch, New Zealand and have been trying to find out more about our Hall family roots for over 30 years. My ggreat grandfather Samuel Hall (born about 1839) arrived in NZ some time before 1869 (when his son Nathan in my profile photo was born). He was a gold and coal miner in Central Otago, NZ.
Thanks to DNA we have linked with Richard Hall born about 1610 in England. He moved to Virginia, USA in 1652. He died in North Carolina.
From there we have several generations of names with high DNA matches showing our line as (most likely) Samuel, William, William, Rev Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Robert, Zachariah Hilliard who married Cynthia Henderson Bass (prob married about 1804). We have 0.01 Native American Indian in the results which makes Cynthia a probable connection.
Our elusive Samuel Hall continues to take me on a very interesting journey spending many an hour on the hunt. I'm happy to receive any and all information re this family and of course about Samuel. Greetings to all the other searchers out there from Christchurch, New Zealand.
