I am Brit who lives in northern Italy, Lake Garda where I teach geography in an Italian high school. After learning about some of the events of WWII in the local area I helped set up the Associazione Culturale Benàch.
My area main of research here is with 10th Mountain Division who died fighting to liberate this part of Italy as well as research on American planes that crashed in Italy. One the events I hope this site might be able to help me is regarding the loss of 25 men when their amphibious craft a DUKW sank crossing from Torbole to Riva del Garda on the 30th April 1945 and are still MIA (Missing in Action). I would like to try photos of all these men and if possible try to trace their families so they know that these men have not been forgotten. We have put a monument up in Torbole in their honour and we organise a 40-mile march to remember them and Col.Darby the founder of the American Rangers who also died on the 30th April here in Torbole.
