Bio

I have researched American colonial art and architecture since the 1970s, when I took courses on the topic as an undergraduate at Ohio State University. I continued that work once I arrived in Boston, and have researched and presented on colonial (and later) gravestones in the greater Boston area since the 1980s. I began my work in the Old Cambridge Burying Ground, then started giving tours on Boston's Freedom Trail, eventually visiting all 17 of the early Boston grounds. I have also worked on stones in Lexington, Concord, Salem, Marblehead, Beverly, Hamilton-Wenham, Danvers, Malden, Medford, Charlestown, Newton, Plymouth, and Vernon, Vermont. My presentations usually include both an illustrated lecture for background, followed by an in-person tour of the colonial stones in a given site. My blogsite is at #ocbground; my Twitter handle is @dwyndlelee; I'm happy to be in touch with others as I compile this work (I'm currently working on three articles and two book projects...!) I'm also creating free PowerPoint/Zoom offerings as a safer alternative, to take the place of this summer's tours, and would be glad to point people to those if interested.
