Bio

I am a former elementary school teacher who is currently an at-home dad, living in Royal Oak, Michigan.

I got interested in genealogy during the pandemic and created an Ancestry account in July 2020 and an account with Find a Grave in September 2020. I've since become our family historian and taken an interest in connecting the Find a Grave memorials of parents, children, and spouses.

Please excuse my many suggested edits. My contributions here are intended to honor the deceased and make information and connections accessible for descendants and relatives.

I am most interested in maintaining memorials for direct ancestors and distant relatives in my wife's and my family trees.

The lines I spend the most time researching are Coda, Fyalka, Harris, Larson, Layton, Mattea, Tomsco and Troyer.

However, I take the process of maintaining each of my memorials seriously. I am in the process of researching all individuals on Ancestry, updating their biographical information, transcribing headstones, and requesting photos. Currently, I am only creating memorials for individuals for whom I have burial or cremation information via death certificates or obituaries.

I am willing to transfer memorials to most users who make a request. Memorials should be maintained by loved ones, regardless of their relationship.

While accuracy is very important to me, I am bound to make mistakes, so I encourage other users to submit corrections and additional information to my memorials. I will update them as soon as I am able to verify the changes on Ancestry.

I encourage other users to use my photos for their family trees or research -- not for commercial use. I do not need to be credited. If you would like an original copy of any of my photos, please feel free to contact me with your email address. I greatly appreciate the countless users who have responded to my photo requests and contribute here in this way!

A few notes on the conventions I use in maintaining memorials:
* I remove redundant photos of headstones, opting to keep only those that are more recent, accurate, clear, or aesthetically pleasing.
* I do not use nicknames that are derivatives of given names or surnames.
* I do not use prefixes, unless they appears on headstones or in obituaries or individuals died in combat.

I appreciate everyone's contributions and wish you all well with your research. Please remember that Find a Grave is a network of volunteers. If someone takes the time to gather information for you, please take a moment to acknowledge their efforts with a kind message!
