Bio

Situated on a hilltop on Cedar Hill Road, the Jewish Cemetery is the oldest non-Indigenous cemetery in continuous use in the province of British Columbia. The land was purchased in October 1859 from Roderick Finlaysons, Chief Factor of the Hudson Bay Company. In February, 1860 a ceremony was held to establish the cemetery, and the first burial took place in 1861.
