Bio

My profile picture documents Susan Hill's final resting place, Section 6, Row 14, Lot 48. She is descended from the Hills of Dublin, Ireland, and one day I will place a small obelisk atop her grave in this field of green.

Starting in 2011, I began photographing five generations of my family across Chicago cemeteries, and I was surprised to learn how many did not have marked graves. Fortunately, these unmarked ancestors were buried with other family members with headstones and markers.

All except one, Susan Hill, my 2nd Great-Grandmother, is buried alone in a pauper's grave in Rosehill Cemetary, Chicago, Illinois (her husband, children, and other family members are buried at Oakridge Cemetary, Hillside, Illinois).

I believe those passionate about genealogy understand how some ancestors seem to guide them in their research - Susan Hill is one of mine.

While I have been using FaG for some time, I have only recently become a contributor, and I am beginning to upload all the photos of my family members' headstones (collected over the past 10+ years).

I am also requesting that some direct-line ancestor's Memorials be transferred if they are not currently handled by another direct-line family member (especially if the information is incorrect or reveals too much information on living people).

Once these tasks are completed, I will happily photograph gravesites with requests at the cemeteries I visit.
