Bio

While I was a member of the NZ Society of Genealogists (Wanaka Branch), I digitised local cemetery records by entering them into a Microsoft Access database. I carried out this work for over five or more years, and finished most of my work by 2008. I have not carried out any updates since then as I have moved onto other interests.

I had the database altered so I could include a photo of every headstone, I've taken hundreds of photos and I've noticed them being uploaded by other people on this website.

The first cemetery I completed was Roxburgh, Central Otago. I grew up in Roxburgh and have many family members and ancestors in this cemetery, so this project was very close to my heart. I've lived in Wanaka since 1986, so my next project was to compile a database of all the local cemeteries - Wanaka, Pembroke, Hawea Flat, Albert Town, Makarora, Tarras.

Both my Roxburgh and Wanaka databases (over 2700 burials) were submitted to the cemetery trusts, the local Councils and to the NZ Society of Genealogists.

I have also completed other Central Otago cemeteries, so if you have any queries I am only too happy to help – Omakau, Naseby, Blackstone Hill, Gimmerburn, Ranfurly and St Bathans.

Most cemetery records have only basic information of name, date of death and plot number, but I had access to many death notices from newspapers, Central Otago Pioneer Births Deaths Marriages, so I've included this information in my databases too.

Recently I found this website, and I have been adding photos where they are missing and suggesting edits. I like to think that all my work over the years is accurate and professional, not carried out on an amateur basis, for them to be accepted.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to know more about your family member.
