The 12th Iowa Infantry mustered at Dubuque,IA. Battles included Ft Henry Feb 6, Ft Donelson Feb 16 and Shiloh Apr 6-7, 1862 all in Tennessee. The 8th, 12th & 14th Iowa comprised 4/5ths of the troops in "The Hornet's Nest" at Shiloh.
