Jones who are descended from Christopher Jones, Sr. of Wales and his son Capt. Christopher Jones, Jr. of England. Capt. Jones is known for having been a builder, part owner and the captain of the Mayflower that made the trip to Plymouth, Mass. in 1620. Capt. Jones did not stay, returning to the old country. In later years, his youngest son, Teague Jones, came to Massachusetts and settled permanently in Rhode Island. Teague Jones was married to the daughter of Chief Samoset.
