Tunisia - Kairouan temporary American Cemetery

Sixty Americans were buried this temporary American cemetery in Tunisia. Among the men were several flyers, who could not be identified at that time. The men were killed in the battle for Tunisia and the battle for Sicily in 1943.In a later stage of the war, all were exhumed and buried in the bigger temporary American Beja Cemetery. After the war the men were buried in the North African Cemetery (operated by the American Battle Monuments Commission) or repatriated and buried in a cemetery in the States.
