1897 Pittsboro Graduates

I897 was a memorable year in the history of the Pittsboro High School.The first graduates were Oscar Reynolds, Charles Kress, James Flahery, Norman Worrell, and Maude Hughes Newman. Maude Hughes Newman had the distinction of being the first girl in Indiana to have graduated from a certified high school. Two of the members of this class lived to observe their 50 years of their graduation and were honored with a special program at the Alumni Banquet. They were Norman Worrell and Maude Hughes Newman.
