1. David Elving Schwartz (1954-1997) [David was in my history and some of my political science courses at Drew. Like myself a keen lover of history, David (in college) was an over-bearing show-off, who monopolized the time of the history department teachers (although I suppose I did the same). He (like myself) loved Gilbert and Sullivan, and he and I once returned from Manhattan to the campus from seeing some Broadway production (possibly either "The Beggar's Opera" or "Darrow" with Henry Fonda) on a bus singing G&S songs. He annoyed a great many people, and once got knocked down for a nasty crack he made about a young woman. But when I last saw him on campus for the 1996 reunion he was much more relaxed and settle. As he aged he matured. He suffered from catalepsy, but that does not seem connected to his death.]
