DESCHLER

The top, larger, marker with the cross is Henry George DESHLER (DESCHLER). He is my great grandfather. The smaller marker is Henry P. DESHLER, son of Henry George.I know these markers because I had the larger one repaired by having it leveled and reattaching the cross which had been struck by a falling tree limb during an ice storm a few years back. Henry George fought in the Civil War, and was a member of Indiana's 25 Regiment, K-Company. He was wounded twice, at or between the battle at Ft. Donelson and Shiloh. He did not go to the hospital, but was treated for a bayonet wound to the jaw, and a bullet wound in his thigh, and continued fighting until he mustered out 1n 1865. He lived to the age of 94 and died in his daughter's home in San Antonio, TX.+++John D. [email protected]
