04 Grandparents

My four biological Grandparents are linked in this virtual cemetery. Both of my grandmothers died before I was born, so the grandmothers I actually knew in my life were step-mothers of my Dad and Mom. I am including those two grandmas here with links to their Find A Grave Memorials. ---- Grace Shook Hensley Leet ---- AND ---- Ruth Elizabeth Leet McDowell ---- Grandma Ruth Leet McDowell was a very special person. She married my Grandpa McDowell in 1929 when he was widowed with six young children. His first wife, Elda Sprunger, had passed away soon after the birth of their 6th baby. My mother, Jane McDowell, was only 8 years old at that time. Well, this Ruth Leet just happened to be a 1st cousin to my Dad, Harold Leet, although she was 19 years older than him. So that connection was how my Dad and Mom met!!! If you understand this explanation, then you can see how my (step)Grandma was also my 1st cousin once removed.
