A pretty, extremly well cared for old Cemetery in South Salem, Buckskin township, Ross County Ohio. The cemetery is surrounded by a white picket fence, located behind the old, historic Salem Academy. Leaves start to color.

South Salem Cemetery was started in 1847 by the Salem Academy and Church which was a Presbyterian Instution built by the Chillicothe Presbytery.

In 1917, the Academy was closed and the cemetery was turned over to Ross County, and is managed by Buckskin Township. This photo was taken from the Ohio Historical marker at the northwest corner of the Salem Academy.

The Salem Academy and the Cemetery are listed on the U.S. National Registry of Historic Places.
