The Old Flint City Cemetery was physically relocated from 1952 to 1958. Some family members made private arrangement for re-interment at other cemeteries. The other
re-interments were made at the new Flint City Cemetery at the corners of Linden and Pasadena Roads in Flint Township.

Some graves also had to be moved from the Avondale Cemetery to make room for the
I-475 expressway built in Flint, MI. Some of these graves were also moved to the Flint City Cemetery.

In the 1960’s all cemetery records were lost in a fire.

Sadly the Flint City Cemetery is not being kept up. While the Marines keep the grounds mowed, the headstones are all slowly disappearing into the ground. As of 2004, we have only been able to locate 11 headstones, but we have been told there were about 1,800.

You cannot drive into this cemetery, you have to park on a little pull off on Linden Road and walk in.
Walk this path back to the big tree on the left that is where we located 12 headstones.
