It was built in the early 1700's. A tombstone in the aisle of the church records that Colonel Henry HART of Kilderry was buried there in 1712 and his son George HART in his will, proved in 1768, directed that he should be buried in his father's grave in Muff Church.
The HART family have their own private burial plot attached to the eastern side of the churchyard.
In 1835 the Church was repaired and in 1875 and 1893 it was altered and improved. In 1921,as a memorial and offering of thanks for those who had served in the Great War (1914 - 1918), new tiling was placed in the aisle and porch and a brass eagle lectern was placed in the chancel in memory of those who fell in action.
The eventual Primate of All Ireland, William ALEXANDER (husband of the famous Cecil Frances Humphreys ALEXANDER - the hymn writer and poetess) was ordained deacon of Muff Church on September 19th, 1874.
