All of these tombstones are in an old family graveyard on a little hill known as Camp Knox, so called because it was the spot where Col Knox camped and fought with the indians. An old beech tree was carved: "300 skins (bear and deer skins)destroyed by the indians"....This property was once Col Robert Haskins', and here stood there first home in then the Kentucky wilderness.
"Roberts Wife lies beside him, but the grave is not yet marked. These are the father and mother of the cousin Haskins whom I met in Louisville, Kentucky and the Great Grandson of Col. Robert., June 12, 1906.
The Haskins Cemetery where Robert and his wife Elizabeth are buried is located on the Adair County/Green County, KY Line on Highway 767. The cemetery is on top of a fairly high hill. The DAR has placed a plaque on Robert's grave recognizing his service during the Revolutionary War. The cemetery was very overgrown in 1997 when visited. Was able to locate the tombstone of Robert, but not the tombstone of his wife, Elizabeth. her tombstone may have been knocked down by the cows who freely roam the area.
