The cemetery was started by members of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, which was first organized in 1925. The cemetery was located adjacent to the Bethel church building. In 1989, the Oakland Road Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville merged with the Bethel congregation, and the Bethel church (along with its cemetery) was renamed as Old Peachtree Road Presbyterian. In 2000, a new church building was constructed on the same property, but behind the site of the old wooden structure. The former church was demolished, its cemetery being the only visible remnant of the original site.
