Add PhotosSelf Chapel was founded in 1856 by Joshua Self. It is west of Glensted. Alma Jones Eickhoffs father was Supt Jones.
Cemetery is located in Morgan County, Haw Creek Twp. The church has been gone for a long time nothing being written about it since about 1907. This Cemetery is also known as Jones Cemetery.
Many of the pictures and information were kindly donated by Peggy Henderson (DAR) of Moline, KS who visited this cemetery for many years with her mother.
The Stones are scattered and many may be lying on the back of the farm that now surrounds the cemetery. In Sally Ann Jones Harmon's obituary it speaks of her conversion at Old Self Chapel. "She converted early in life and joined the M.E. church at Old Self Chapel, when it was first built and she told me many times of the good meetings at that old place, and of the neighborhood meetings in the old days before the church was built and many times as she would recount the incidents of those early days, I was often astonished at the remarkable memory she had retained and did retain right up to the time of her death." This if one of those forgotten places where pioneers of Morgan County are buried.
