Also known as the "Old Catholic Burial Ground", the Tower Hill Cemetery is located Whipple Street in Saint John (West), across the road (south) from the Martello Tower Park. The cemetery lot is 1 acre in size and borders with Summer Street to the south. The cemetery was primarily used between 1852 to 1876 and is owned by Saint John Diocesan Cemetery Company Inc. In 1850, Thomas McCarty, and his wife Ellen, deeded the property to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporations. In 1973, the property was transferred from The Roman Catholic Bishop of Saint John to the cemetery company.
