However, in May 2011, Matt Cumberledge, another Anderson descendant, contacted the owner of the golf course and asked him if he was aware of a cemetery located on the course and he said he was. Matt arranged a date and the owner showed him where the graves are. They are actually right in the middle of the course. The owner did tell him that several years ago, around Halloween if he recalled correctly, someone stole the markers and he had quite a time getting them back. The owner also expressed an interest in placing them back at the site of the graves.
There seem to be duplicate markers for Charles and Mary Anderson, none of them bearing dates, but they are cut the same, and clearly of the same vintage, but one marker is smaller than the other, so it would seem that they may be head and footstones. But the markers are in fairly good condition.
A heartfelt thank you to Matt for pursuing and locating the markers and then photographing and posting them to the memorials for this cemetery. Matt's caption on the cemetery photo of the markers reads: "The stones for the Anderson Cemetery as they appear around the tree they lean against." Matt's caption on the other photo of the golf course reads: "The location of the burials; the stones have been removed, and are leaning against a tree nearby in the woodline. This is located on the land Charles [Anderson] patented in 1783."
