Auburn Cemetery

This cemetery was started by Dr Henry Wythe Tabb on what was once part of Auburn Plantation. Records show the first buried here was his 2 children in 1840. The Auburn grounds has been divided and the cemetery is no longer part of the original house property. It seems to be well taken care of by the property owner today.
Records show that Preservation Virginia (APVA) began the moving of stones from old and/or abandoned cemeteries in the early 1900's. Some stones were also moved by relatives. The following is still buried here and their stones have been moved to Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester Co, Virginia.

The Auburn Plantation home was built for Dr Henry Wythe Tabb by his father Phillip Tabb 1750-1822 and was completed in 1824. Many Tabb children and grandchildren were born in the elegant Georgian home.
