Kidd Farm Cemetery
Leechburg, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA
Go about 1 mile north of the Evergreen Cemetery turn east on Novinger Road, go about 3/4 of mile. The cemetery is on the right a few hundred feet in the trees. This cemetery is very difficult to find due to the dense forest and lack of any roads leading to it.
HISTORY OF THE KIDD FARM CEMETERY
This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Armstrong County, it started in the late 1700's, and is the final resting place of many of Armstrong Co's earliest pioneers.
The cemetery was named after a Civil War Veteran named H. Kidd, who owned the adjoining property.
It is said by some of the nearby residents, now long dead, that the cemetery contained about 100 graves. Some of the family names are Klingensmith and Riggle and their many relatives
This cemetery was abandoned in about 1888, when the Evergreen Cemetery was started a short distant to the south.
This property is now owned by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co., who use it as a dumping site. They bought the property from Robert J Clark in 1977. The previous owners are unknown.
There was a search of the Sober-Hill Cemetery and the Kidd Farm Cemetery on January 29, 1981 by Mrs. Raymond Ralston, Rt. 1. Box 385, Slippery Rock, PA. A copy of this is available at the Leechburg Historic Library, Leechburg, PA
