Located in the City of Fall River, the cemetery is owned by the Town of Freetown. Ownership was not transferred when Fall River separated from Freetown in 1803. Attempts to do so were made by Freetown in 2010, but did not meet with success. The land for this cemetery was originally given to the inhabitants of Freetown about 1730 by Samuel Lynde of Boston. The original meeting house was here too.
The faces of the stones all face west. Plan to take photographs in the morning as the setting sun makes evening photography difficult.
In 2003, Justin Becker, his Boy Scout Troop, and the cemetery neighbors, cleared out this cemetery. Once a month, a descendent also voluntarily cares for this cemetery.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission does not refer to this cemetery in MACRIS.
