When Garrett Tunison's wife died in 1859, he buried her at the edge of a field on their farm. Over thirty years later, he died and was buried beside his wife. Louis Lesieur, the administrator of his estate, sold the family farm as part of the settlement of the estate. The administrator's deed, dated 12 Mar 1891 and recorded 18 Mar 1891 in Book "X", Page 318, reads in part:
"That in pursuance of an order of Joseph R. Clarkson one of the Judges of the District Court of Sarpy County Nebraska made on the 22nd day of October 1890 I was licensed by the said Judge to sell at public auction... to Guy C. Barton he being the highest bidder there.. in consideration of $3,210.00... the Real Estate herein described as follows, to wit: The east half of the South East Quarter (E 1/2 S.E. 14) of Section Thirty three (33) Township Fourteen (14) Range Thirteen (13) East in Sarpy County Nebraska excepting and reserving from said sale one(1) acre used as a burying ground and described as follows to wit: commencing (211) feet North of the South East corner of said Section 33.. running thence North 211 feet, thence West 211 feet, thence South 211 feet, thence East (211) feet to the place of beginning."
