The metal plaques giving the names of some of those buried at this cemetery are old and rusty, but still legible. The earliest bears the year 1863 and the last is dated 1904. The number located in the bottom right corner of each original marker is apparently the number assigned to that person's interment. Not all interments have markers as the last burial took place 20 August 1948. The letter "C" appears to the right of some of the names; this indicates that the person was "colored." The cemetery is well cared for and is the final resting place for two veterans of the War of 1812. Listed in the cemetery records are: interment number, date of interment, name of deceased, date of death, age in years and months (sometimes years, months, and days), place of birth, and location of burial. No details are given as to the exact spot in the cemetery. Ironically, the place of death is not listed, though the deceased had to have resided (or died if itinerant) in Union County. All marked graves have been photographed and uploaded here.
The cemetery is located in Paris Township, Union County, Ohio, and is # 14192 (Potters Field) in "Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003", compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
