Pine Tree Plantation was owned by Levi Crawford (1770-1801), and a portion of the land was used to establish the oldest cemetery for the Crawford family who settled in Berkeley County, SC. The cemetery was destroyed by a timber company in the 1960's, and all of the grave markers were destroyed and pushed into a nearby creek. The cemetery was restored in 1967 with new markers replacing as many of the original ones as could be remembered by those Crawfords familiar with the old cemetery. Some of the markers have only names; others include birth and death years, but none have the complete dates. Also, according to family Bibles and research records, the graves of some are missing.
