Matthews Cemetery
Cramer, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, USA
Although there are several ways to access the cemetery, the two listed here are from Ligonier and Johnstown as indicated below:
From Ligonier:
Take state road 711 north, to New Florence. In New Florence, continue on route 711 north by turning right on 13th St which then becomes 2nd Street. Continue northeast on 711, into Seward and turn left, at the junction with state road 56. After turning,* proceed north, on 56, for 0.6 miles, cross the Conemaugh River bridge and, immediately across the bridge and railroad tracks, turn right, onto Charles Rd. Continue east, on Charles Rd. about 1 mile, then turn left on Hill Road. (Note: This "Hill" Rd. may be labeled "Beartracks" Rd.) About 400 feet onto Hill/Beartracks Rd. there is a fork...proceed to the right and continue north 0.5 miles, to Grange Hall Road (state road 2013); turn left, on Grange Hall Rd. and go about 0.2 miles. If you have reached an abandoned house on the right you have gone too far. From the 0.2 mi point it's a walk of about 560' on a bearing of N73ºE to the cemetery. This trek is mostly across a plowed field, although you will cross the northern corner of a large concrete(?) slab/parking lot. At a distance of roughly 550' you will leave the plowed field and enter a forested area. Scout around to the right and left and you should encounter several tombstones; they may be leaning or laying down. This is Matthews Cemetery.
From Johnstown:
If you are entering Johnstown from the south on US 219 go north and exit left on state road 56 to the west (if coming from the north turn right on state road 56 to the west), continue on to the northwest until you encounter state road 711 at Seward, then proceed as above*."
