The Sand Hill Cemetery is owned by the city of Fort Plain, New York. It is completely overgrown, despite 950 documented burials. The city does not even maintain the access road. The cemetery must be accessed by private property. One of the few standing stones is that of Col. Robert McFarlane, Tryon County Militia. The cemetery contains many graves of militia members. A local historian puts flags on them.
