T. C. Littel reported the unmarked grave stone is said to be Frances Hearne born 1816, daughter of Nehemiah Hearne, wife of Archibald C. Freeman (tradition says her name was misspelled so the stone was not accepted).
Mrs. G.B.D. Reynolds reported that an unmarked grave here could be the grave of Davidson Hearne's grandfather, Joshua or George Hearne, who drowned in the Uwharrie / Pee Dee River, although it could not be proved that the skeleton found and placed here was his.
On November 3, 2008, new markers were added to the graves of Nehemiah Hearne and Nancy Hearne by Jack Morton of Rome, Georgia. Nehemiah Hearne gave land for the town of Albemarle. This historical homeplace was the site of the early Stanly County Courts until 1843.

"This beautiful old homeplace of Nehemiah Hearne and Nancy Almond Hearn sits on a high hill about two blocks from what is now down town Albemarle, N.C. At one time the home and many many acres of land formed the Hearne Plantation. Nehemiah Hearne gave land for the development of the city of Albeamarle and sold cordoned off plots of land for residential homes. This house is still in the Hearne family but they have not chosen to live in it and the city did not want it because they cannot afford to keep it up. It is deteriorating. Nehemiah and Nancy Almond Hearne are buried right outside the door of this old home in the back yard."
