Add PhotosThis very old family cemetery is on land once owned by Edward and Nancy Ann Barker Evans. They owned a saw mill in this valley and their home was there. They buried their family members here at the base of big Walker mountain. It is unclear who all is buried here but there are approximately 7-9 grave site impressions with broken stones not native to the area, which were obviously placed there. There are obvious plantings there as well, as if someone attempted to care for the cemetery at one time long ago. The cemetery is on land currently owned by a gentleman who was unaware that the cemetery even exhisted. Descendants who knew of the old cemetery, requested access in the 1990's, showed him the plots and he granted permission for family members to visit the site in the future.
Enter Hungry Mother State Park, drive down the main road past the lake to the back of the park until you reach the electronic gate of private property. Don't trespass without first asking for permission to enter through his private gate to visit the cemetery located directly behind his home.
