Elizabeth Earl Johnson and her husband Charles Johnson are stated to be buried side by side at Strawberry Hill according to the two typed copies of family history letters from a grandchild of Charles Johnson and Elizabeth Earl Johnson, Mrs. Ann (Nannie) Johnson Baker (1824-1910), in the Sarah A. Johnson Papers (Collection # 379) at the Southern Historical Collection at UNC-Chapel Hill.
In the deed by which Charles Johnson sold Strawberry Hill in 1797, he retained access to the family burial ground. This suggests that his wife Elizabeth Earl Johnson was buried there. Dr. Benjamin Baptist died in 1752 and was buried at Strawberry Hill. His grave stone was unearthed there in 1901. Source: North Carolina Historical and Genealogical Register, Volume II, Page 470 by J.R.B. Hathaway (1901).
