Dawes Family Cemetery
Manhattan, Gallatin County, Montana, USA
Benjamin [Manley Dawes] "took up land" in 1879, along the Gallatin River, just south of the present day Central Park adjoining the Interstate Highway. The land is now farmed by Spencer Smith. The buildings were located near the tall silo that still stands. The silo was built by Dr. Charles Spencer Smith many years ago.
The two young children were buried on a little knoll near a fence a short distance south of the old buildings. A tombstone marking the graves has been toppled over, so it is not possible to locate the actual grave site.
