The Upper Tutaenui Cemetery is on Jeffersons Line, near Marton.
A Presbyterian Church was built in 1873 and used to sit next to the Cemetery.
This church was mainly built through the efforts of the Rev. William Stewart who is buried in this Cemetery along with his wife and most of his children.
There are 2 Commonwealth burial's of the 1914-1918 war and 1 of the 1939-1945 war here.
Private William Hugh Shannon - Service No. 9/1967, Son of Mrs. M. Shannon, of Amesbury St., Palmerston North. Served in Egypt, 1916, and on the Western Front, 1916-18.
Private James Griffin - Service No. 48417, Wellington Infantry Regiment, Husband of Mrs Nellie Evelyn Griffin.
Corporal Ronald Keith Bartlett – Service No. 39310, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Son of Isaac and Grace Bartlett, of Silverhope, Manawatu; husband of Iris Lilian Bartlett, Silverhope.
This Cemetery also has the burial of Margaret Elizabeth Osborn who was one of the 151 people that were killed in New Zealand's worst railway accident which occurred at Tangiwai in the central North Island on 24 December 1953.
There is also a plaque for the Tutaenui Rural Woman Memorial Garden.
