Christ Church was built in 1877. The first service was conducted by Bishop Cowie on 18 March 1877. The land for the church and cemetery was donated by Richard Middleton and the church built for $292. In 1995 the lichgate to the cemetery was completed.
The church was listed with the Heritage New Zealand (#683) in April 1983 and is listed as a Category 2 Historic Place. It holds a significant number of memorials within the church. The font lists and remembers military personnel who died in the World Wars and those who safely returned. There is a separate memorial for Trooper James Jenks who died in the South African (Boer) War in 1900. Another memorial lists the ministers who worked at the church.
All Souls Anglican Church, Clevedon (Parish headquarters), hold a burial register for the cemetery. The cemetery has several military and numerous local identities buried there. There are a number of old gum digger burials that are not marked and there are no details for them. The first recorded burial was in 1878 (George Angus Bodle). In April 2021 the cemetery was still in use for body and ash burials.
